11/29/09 Prayer Requests and Upcoming Announcements

PRAYER REQUESTS:

People of Honduras--elections for new President held there today

John Johnson--Kim's brother, who came forward this morning asking for forgiveness and prayers; please also remember him, Cory and Kayla this week as Chad and I will be out of town.

Kenneth Ramsey--meeting with Dr. in Nashville on Tuesday to plan treatment for remaining tumors.

Barney Kesler--Reggie's Brother in law, waiting to hear results on remaining tumors

Sharon Cannon--Susan's sister; condition is the same

Charles Cozzens--fell and broke his other leg; please pray for complete healing for him; please pray also for Jeff and his family as they support his parents.

Our Kids--please pray for our kids to make good decisions and to be strong enough to stand up to peer pressure.

Parents--pray for us as parents and that we will not be "wimpy" parents, but that we will be strong and do what is right for our kids.

Marriages--Remember our marriages as Satan really loves to attack our families..
Congratulations to Stoney & LeAn Ramsey and Chad & Kim Chapman who are celebrating their anniversaries this week!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Saturday, Dec. 5th--Anyone is invited to go with us to give out sleeping bags to the homeless at Court Square. Leaving SVCC at 11:30.

Sunday, Dec. 6th--Jim Coleman will be speaking on "Keeping your children out of 201 Poplar"
--Middle School Bake Sale--Skip breakfast and bring money to purchase goodies from our middle school kids. They will be raising money to purchase gifts for the Boys & Girls Club kids!!
--Middle School Reach Out--kids will be leaving SV at 11:00 for lunch at McDonalds, then shopping for Boys & Girls Club kids. Pick up kids at SV at 2:30. Bring Money for lunch.

Sunday, Dec. 13th--New class begins on the 10 Commandments
--Children's Christmas Musical at 5:00PM

Events this weekend!!

Saturday, Nov. 21st--Coat and Sleeping bag distribution

We will be meeting at SV at 11:15 and leaving at 11:30 to go downtown to Court Square Park to distribute the coats, etc. We plan to return to SV at 2:30. This is open to anyone who would like to go, but please remind your teens.

Sunday, Nov. 22nd--High School Reach Up

Pizza and Praise night featuring worship leader Brishan Hatcher and speaker Kennon Vaughn
Time: 5:00
Place: MPAC
Guests: We have invited Highland and White Station teens to join us! Let your kids know that their friends are welcome. It's going to be a great night!!!

11/8/09 Prayer Requests

REQUESTS:

Chad Chapman--lots of traveling this week; Kansas City, Omaha, then back to Memphis. Please pray for safe travels.

Collette Stats--Chris Johnson's sister; had neck surgery on Monday

Charles McFall--had back surgery on Friday and can't do anything for 3 weeks.

Madison Parker--new student to Harding; at 7 years old she witnessed the murder of her parents and has been in & out of foster care since. She is now living with a distant aunt & uncle.

Hannah Stone--Senior at Harding; has a lot of family issues; brother has disease which has led to self-medicating and drug abuse; now Hannah has learned she may have the same disease and also that there is no money for her to go to college.

Roland Underwood--Cindy Griffith's dad; going to Home Hospice this week; also pray for their whole family as Cindy's uncle passed away this last week.

Kerin French--daughter of David & Lorie in Zambia; has malaria and is also in the final stages of adopting little Susan that she has been caring for over the last few years. Update: talked to Lorie on Monday and Kerin is doing better, still having some stomach issues.

Merry Doss--having a procedure on Wednesday

Hello POT Class, and other friends & family at SVC,

I wanted to let all of you know my position was terminated last Friday. This was sudden and very unexpected. Indeed, I thoroughly enjoyed what I was doing. So Jeannie and I are caught off guard.

But we are choosing to trust the Lord. What we would ask of all of you is your prayers, plus a sense of humor (Mark Hickman can't be expected to provide it all!)

Seriously, we have long "talked" the words of faith--this is one of those moments to now live them. Our times are in His hands, and we are determined to walk by faith. God is in control.

It is SO nice to have a church family like you. We will look forward to seeing you this Sunday. Be a blessing!

Shirley Harrison family--at her death from cancer on Friday. Please pray for her family.


Cindy Griffith's dad--in heart failure and beginning hospice care at home; please pray for peace for Cindy and the rest of her family

Kenneth Ramsey--doing well after surgery; will be going to Nashville to begin radiation on the remaining spots.

Phillip Talbert, Jr.--as he helps his dad who is having heart problems in Rogers, AR

Hilda Young--neighbor of Carolyn Jones; surgery this week for bladder cancer

Bill Dodd--Carolyn Jones' dad--fighting cancer
